Paul George expected to miss 2014-15 NBA season after Team USA leg injury

After late-night surgery to repair his broken leg suffered during Team USA’s Friday scrimmage, Paul George is expected to miss the 2014-15 NBA season, according to Yahoo!’s Marc Spears. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst also reportedthat doctors believe George will miss the season.

George suffered the horrific open tibia-fibula fracture while crashing into the stanchion after attempting a chasedown block in the fourth quarter of Team USA’s televised scrimmage. USA Basketball announced early Saturday that George is expected to remain in the hospital for three days, but that the surgery was “successful” and no ancillary damage was found.

In the 2013-14 season, George led Indiana to the best record in the Eastern Conference and a second consecutive trip to the conference finals. He was also named to the All-Star Team, the third team All-NBA and first team All-Defense. George averaged 21.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 2013-14.
