2014 College Football Odds Week 1: Boston College A 15-Point Favorite At UMass

A.J and New Guy talked about this earlier in the week on BCI Radio, but it seems like we’ve had to suffer through an excruciatingly long offseason. So it’s great to be talking Boston College football again leading into the season opener this Saturday against the Massachusetts Minutemen.

According to the Las Vegas Hilton, the Eagles are currently listed as a 15-point road favorite over the Minutemen. Last season, Boston College finished the year 7-6 overall and 7-6 against the spread while UMass finished the year 1-11 and 5-7 ATS.

In the last meeting between the two programs in Chestnut Hill, Boston College was a 12-point home favorite at kickoff. The Eagles won 45-17.

Last season, BC opened the 2013 campaign as a 17-point home favorite vs. Villanova; winning 24-14. This is the first season BC has opened on the road since opening the 2008 game at Kent State in Cleveland. The Eagles shut out the Golden Flashes 21-0 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in front of a raucous crowd of 1,000.

Other ACC opening weekend lines of note:

...

— Wake Forest is a 3-point road favorite at Louisiana-Monroe
— N.C. State is a 22.5-point home favorite at Georgia Southern
— Clemson is an 8-point road dog at Georgia
— Florida State is a 17.5-point favorite vs. Oklahoma State in North Texas
— Louisville is a 3-3.5-point home favorite vs. Miami on Labor Day in the Cardinals’ ACC debut

No lines on season-opening FBS-FCS games between Syracuse-Villanova, Pitt-Delaware and Virginia Tech-William & Mary.
